After our arrival to Cairns Hanky decided to go and get a diving certification. I decided to go with this German guy we met to Cape Tribulation just North of Cairns. Cape is basicly rainforest, the oldest unchanged rainforest in the world actually. Stefan my German friend is a real trekking lover, so we decided to climb one of the Mountains here, Mount Sorrow. James Cook named alot of the places around here with glooming names because of his unfortunes in it.
Mount Sorrow was amazing, walking through the rainforest is quite sweaty and you should bring at least 3-4 liters of water with you, and lot’s of bug repellent. Leeches where commen as we soon experienced, they where quite small though.
The beaches are amazing, unfortunetly you can’t swim anywhere in the North Part of australia because of the manatees. If you get stinged it hurts like hell and you can die if there is to many of them, I tried the water though and It was really hot, maybe body temperature.
If you go to Queensland you should really visit the Cape.

So now we have left Kuala Lumpur behind and entered the well garded fortress of Singapore. Much like KL this city is a huge shopping mall. Except here everything is quite expensive and very clean, drugs carry the death penalty and littering is punished with a $500 fine. It feels like a ghost town in some respects caught in the middle of east and west. Fortunately we won’t be staying here to long. We will upload some pictures soon with the time square shopping mall in KL, it had an amusement park INSIDE the mall with several rides including a big rollercoaster which was under repair when we were there… Fortunetly.
10 levels of shopping and at level 10 an imax teather. Is it heaven or hell? Not really sure but it was air-conditioned… Is heaven air-conditioned?
At some point Asia will be a huge air-conditioned hive, with everyone else dying of the global warming induced heat outside. I am completely convinced…
PS. Of the books previously mentioned I would really recommend Myternas historia short but brilliant.

So our stay in Thailand draws to a close. Tomorrow we take the bus to Malaysia and kuala lumpor. Thailand has been great, you could call it paradise but it’s like the perfect beach with a Coke machine in the middle of it all. It’s disturbing to see what we in the west represent for most thai people. Essentielly we go here to be lazy and to fuck prostitutes, the normal greating phrase in bangkok is “Hello, where you from, you want girls, boom, boom”. If you can ignore all that it’s great.
I think I liked it the most when we got a chance to meet some “real” thai people in bangkok, they where just students not interested in us for money.
